WELSH DAFFODILS TO TAKE ON THE ENGLISH ROSE

February 10, 2017

Any doubts Wales rugby defence coach Shaun Edwards may have had about the availability of daffodils were answered today (Friday) by a special delivery of homegrown daffodils!

The blooms arrival was courtesy of fresh produce brand Blas y Tir, in response to the pre-match repartee between Shaun and England rugby boss Eddie Jones.

In the build-up to tomorrow’s titanic Six Nations clash in Cardiff, Wales’ national flower was caught in the crossfire banter between the two coaches.

Eddie jokingly said that Welsh fans could throw their daffodils at his team and Shaun responded by questioning if daffodils were around at this time of year.

Blas y Tir to lead the ‘battle of the blooms’ in Six Nations 2017

February 3, 2017

Game on… it’s the big one… Six Nations 2017… Wales versus England… on the green, green grass of our fertile home.  A match like no other.  The daffodil versus the rose.

The ultimate patriotic symbol, the daffodil is a talisman for Welsh rugby fans who are being urged to take part in the ‘Great Daff Giveaway’ in the build-up to the most iconic match of the home international season.

Welsh fresh produce brand Blas y Tir has been supplying the daffodils to the nation for 10 years – that’s 1.8 million homegrown bunches – and in celebration will be giving away 10,000 daffodils to rugby fans before next Saturday’s (February 11th) Wales v England crunch-match at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
