An evening of Christmas music – with a rather special prize – awaits the audience at the Neath Polyphonic Choir Concert on December 6th.
The Christmas Concert will be held at St David’s Church in Neath, with proceeds going towards the church’s Tower Appeal – which aims to raise £500,000 to restore the iconic town landmark.
“We are very grateful to the choir for helping us with the Tower Appeal in such an enjoyable way,” said Rector of Neath, Canon Stephen Ryan. “St David’s Church is the ‘spiritual home’ of the choir and we are always delighted to welcome them to perform here.”
Joining the choir as guest soloist will be professional soprano Laura Thomas, a former St David’s Church Choir Head Chorister and contemporary of Katherine Jenkins.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music Laura – who now performs under the surname of Armstrong – has worked with world-renowned singing stars such as Sir Willard White and has duetted with Katherine at the Royal Albert Hall.
In addition organist Keith Evans will once again be adding some thrilling accompaniment on the organ with further seasonal spirit provided by Briton Ferry Silver Band’s Junior Section.
Some extra Christmas magic will be added to the evening with the opportunity to purchase mulled wine and mince pies during the interval as well as the chance to win tickets to see Katherine Jenkins perform in Cardiff that same weekend.
Katherine, who returned to her home church earlier this year to perform in aid of the Tower Appeal, has donated as a raffle prize two tickets to her concert on December 8th at St David’s Hall.
“Katherine is a staunch supporter of our Tower Appeal,” said Canon Ryan, “and we can’t thank her enough for the help and generosity she continues to show the Appeal. Whoever wins the raffle is going to have a wonderful early Christmas present.”
