A test of fitness and stamina, the ‘Race the Sun’ is not an event for the fainthearted, but with the prospect of helping children’s charity Action Medical Research accountant Stuart Harries is relishing the challenge.
A keen sportsman, Stuart is a partner at WBV Ltd – one of South Wales’ largest independent firms of chartered accountants.
Starting at sunrise and finishing at sunset on August 30th, the ‘Race the Sun’ challenge through the Lake District involves teams of four people undertaking a 50 mile bike ride, a hike to the summit of Helvellyn (3,116ft) and canoeing a 3km course on Lake Thirlmere.
He will be joining Gareth Abraham, Gareth Charles and Jon Oliver of business software consultancy IRIS, to raise money for the charity, which is dedicated to improving the health of babies and children by funding vital medical research in children’s hospitals and universities across the UK.
Says Stuart, “WBV has a long standing relationship with IRIS software and given the worthiness of the Action Medical Research cause I am delighted to be taking part in Race the Sun. I also love adventure and the opportunity to challenge myself, which I am sure the event’s course will do!
“I am very grateful to IRIS for this opportunity to join their team, given the number of accountancy practices it provides software and services for, to ask me and WBV shows how highly we’re regarded not only by our clients but our suppliers too.”
